Have you seen the videos? It's still Battlefield... but it's going to have some HUGE improvements and changes. There's a 600MB one floating around that's very very impressive.

I'm the "my system can't handle it"

My system barely ran BF:Vietnam, so I have concerns BF2 wont' run at all. I'm currently debating how much of my refund my wife and I should spend on computer upgrades. We may end up getting all new computers, but I don't know yet.

Overall, I know I'd like the game. My only concern about the gameplay itself will be "What will be done about the baseraping"? The BF franchise is well known for that crap and I really hate getting spawn killed. That's kinda why I don't play Tribes:Vengence now :/

i'll not buy it.

HL & HL's mod 4 life.

I don't like BF's games.

YES! I can't wait for it to come out. I enjoyed BF1942 and LOVED Desert Combat. I can't wait to see the ammount of team work we put together. Thats the big difference between CSS and BF2, more persistant team work in BF2.

We will have a very well-adminned server, and will have the manpower to enforce a no spawn camping rule if we decide to set one up. Maybe the game will have something preventing that sort of thing from happening.

I'm not sure. I haven't played any of the BF games so I really don't know what to expect. I'm fairly sure that my comp will run it though, especially after I upgrade my pathetic motherboard and use my Athlon 2600 XP CPU instead of my craptacular 1.3 Ghz Duron :P I probably won't be one of the first in line to get it, but maybe a few months after it's released if I get it at all.

You could check out BFV. I believe it's under $20 now. BF2 will likely be quite a bit better than BFV, but playing that could give you a preview of some of the things you'd need to get used to (vehicles, foliage, etc).

the only thing that scares me is if BF2 suffers from Desert Combat-itous
like, what really turned me off DC was the that some things that were deemed 'ok' really seemed overpowered, such as helicopters. On El Amaein, those things could fire from so far away, that your draw distance would make you unable to see them. Also, have you ever hit a helicopter with a soldier equipped rocket launcher while it's flying overhead? It's nearly impossible to hit them, since you have the factors of leading, range, compensate for your rocket arching, etc.

Also, the anti-tank bazookas weren't anti-tank, I was never able to take out a take with one of those.

sure, I'll buy BF2, but if it's anything like DC, I'll probably jump boat pretty fast

If you're talking about a stinger/SA-7, it's a learned skill. I used to do it all the time.

Choppers weren't overpowering. Each class/vehicle had it's own prey. An RPG or a Stinger could be used to take down a chopper. The stingers in DC did not work correctly because they are unable to get a lock on system in the engine the game uses. The stingers in BF2 will be able to lock on.

Also, any airplane could easily take down a chopper.
It's all about the team work in BF. If you use the correct vehicles, team work, communication, you are going to win.
Like I said, everybody was hunter and prey.

After you learn how to do it, it's easy. I could hit them with RPG's all day long. The Stinger missle fired in a straight line so it was especially easy to hit them with that weapon.
Try hitting an F16 at full speed bank with an RPG

It did take a few rockets to take down a take, about 3 I believe. It is different in BF2 from the videos I have seen. I saw a 203 round take out a small APC in one of the videos.

BF2 is all about teamwork, just like BF/BF:V/DC. These are not really lone wolf friendly. If one team has total teamwork expect to be dominated by that team.

Can't wait

My 5700LE has been surprising me for a while now

When I got a new case my CSS fps jumped up to 110-125fps on the highest detail settings

I can't for BF2. I also can't wait for the first major HL2 multiplayer mod coming out this Friday

sure, the experiance is awesome in a match or scrim, but if you just jump in a server, you hardly get any teamwork, thus I found that helicopters became the super weapon that couldn't be taken down. They'd destroy the planes at the airfield before anyone could lift on and just generally hang around and make it hard to do anything. I never was able to take out one with a soldier equipped launcher
