i had no idea you could sell your video game accounts, and for sooo much.
What exactly would make it worth that kinda ching. How does one put a dollar sign to it,i mean what sort of things get accounted for in order to come up with an amount.BTW i'm for real not picking on or making fun.I honestly have no idea about such things.

$2000???

That's crazy.

not really, i sold mine for $1800 back before.

level, class, equipment on the characters all contribute KT. when i sold mine the account had the best geared warrior on the server at the time..

How many hours did it take to get all that?

Shotty
10 Apr 2008, 04:10 PM
mine? 180 days played total, on the warrior, 65 on the mage, 40 on the hunter, various small amounts on the other players..

that is actually logged in per minute time spent playin, not account age..

how much do you have to pay to get to the point where you can sell your account for that much? WoW charges you to play doesnt it?

10 Apr 2008, 04:34 PM
huh... even at so much money its not a good return on your time, but then again its not like I can get any money for the time I spend playing. If you can get someone to pay you 2 grand for that account more power to you.

i looked at all my payments i made into the game and it came out to $510.00 so ill be making a $1,500 profit but im willing to sell to you guys for $1,700 or whatever, we can haggle

SneakyArab

Gad, it would depend on how long you had the account. I think it is what, $15 a month with a free month of play when you first get the game (which costs $20 plus $20 for the expansion.) So we are looking at about $200 for the first year and then about $180 for each year after that. I have been playing for about 3 months now and have gotten a priest to level 70 with just a bit of good gear and a rogue to 49 with good gear considering his level.

So really it depends on the person playing. But still, even if he has been playing for 5 years that is under $1k, so that is a lot of profit, which I suppose is justified because the person playing had to spend time getting all of that stuff.

Talked to someone a few weeks ago who was thinking about quitting and had his account estimated between $3k and $4k

What kind of person buys these accounts? Also how much time does it take for account to be marketable? Sorry if these are stupid questions WOW is a mystery to me.

Back in the day when Star Wars Galaxies the MMORPG was a really good game and Jedi were extremely rare, their accounts could go for as high as $2000 too. The Jedi were pretty much unstoppable though, and take out whole guilds by themselves. They were the gods of the game, and there were people with enough cash that would buy the accounts too.

I think this is defintiely not the proper venue to be hocking your WoW wares. Besieds the fact that I think stuff like this is illegal, not sure about that, but this is primarily an FPS clan. Plus, dont people play RPGs to find cool stuff, to level up, to take pride in ones character. Where is all that in a purchased lvl 65 war dude with all cool armors and weapons??

Yeah you would be surprised at the amount of money spent on buying characters. Hell alot of people actually make a living off of selling off WoW characters. But you would think people would take pride in leveling their own character but alot of times its not that way. More often thank you think people buy characters because they are lazy and dont want to spend the time on leveling a character from 1-70 and believe me it takes quite a while when you have a life. So the one alternative is to buy a character that has already been lvled to 70 or give someone your account information and money and they level a character on your account. most of the time its PvP'ers that are doing it. They just want the character with all the epic gear so they dont have to go through the hastle of getting the gear themselves.
To answer someones question i dont remember and im to lazy to look it up but it is illegal to sell your account or character and if caught the account get perma banned and the rule also applies to gold selling as well which i could care less about but it is annoying when you get messaged or the bank and auction house get spammed with gold selling bots. thus concluding my statement. thank you and good night.

why would people pay $2000 or a account:question: when you can just build one yourself?

Ever heard the expression "Time is money"?

Yes, it applies here.

and yeah it is illegal, but Deli theres no reason to flame him. He already said he is selling it somewhere else, he was just offering it to anyone here for a LOWER price first to be nice.

It's amazing that something like this could be somewhat profitable. I remember seeing a picture of a WoW gold farmer's set up. He could manage around 6 accounts at one time. Profitable if you've got nothing else to do. I wouldn't pay that much cash for an account.

Oh, and if you do sell Dark, send some of that cash my way bro. I could use a few extra bucks. ;):p

You know, if I wasn't on RP servers, and didn't have a very positive reputation attached to my name (that would undeniably get thrashed within a week) on all my servers, I'd have sold my account and bought a new computer with the profits... Shame. :(

I figure with all the time i put in i should get a few hundred :)
j/k but i wish i could do that.I'd be great to buy a game and turn around and sell ones profile for cash when you get sick of it.

Thing is though.. its not time wasted (as it would be if it was purely a business venture say) because the time spent playing the character was for enjoyment rather than with the prospect to actually make money off of it. so its not really time wasted, and it is a nice bonus considering the time spent having fun if you can sell your account for more than you paid to play over the time period.

i did my payments monthly but paid for 3 months or 6 months at a time (small discount offered) and had the account for about 18months total.. i think i spent about £150 ($300) and made about £750 markup on that price ($1500 approx at the time) for something i have enjoyed doing.. yes there is the time, and yes if i spent that time working i would have earned alot more, but not had the fun playing.. which is really what its all about!

I have a friend who just tried to sell his account. He had a guy willing to pay just short of 1k. He had all season 3 arena gear on a warrior on one server. He also had a season 2 gears lock and 2 other 70s. If you just have one 70 I think you are going to have a hard time getting that price. People are selling a lot of accounts now for under 1k with T6 gear. Be carefull about putting your character name out there if you are going to do this as the can cancel your account and lose your characters if someone reported you.

Just wondering....what do you have and what kind of gear? I might consider a trade.

I have 2 horde 70s. The shaman has season 3 with some season 2 gear (resto). It also has season3 and some season 2 elemental gear. Mining/Jewelcrafter 375. He has his epic flyer and all but just a few JC patterns.

The 70 hunter has some BG gear and S3 axe. Not nearly as good gear as the shaman though. He is Herbing/Eng 375 with a eng epic flyer

I have some 40s and 30 toons on my Horde server.

I have an several alliance toons
70 warlock with blues/S1/S2 gear mixed (reg flying mount)
63 warrior
63 rogue
55 hunter
40 priest
23 mage

I would have to see what kind of gear ect ect you have if you want to trade.

LOL yeah I used to think that too. We got bored with alliance because it seemed more kids played alliance. We rolled horde and while the have some moron kids there too it seems they stick together a little better. I am sure you have seen world pvp where alliance would ride by someone getting ganked and never stop. I have seen this with horde some but it is rare.

The racial talents of horde is better for pvp any way you cut it.

It is a double win for him (he has enjoyed the game and he is getting paid for it) and is not that rare to sell a video game account for that much. Some of you people just dont understand the concept. If someone can spend 100-200 for a small figurine of a random anime character (and have dozens of them), then someone can sure as heck sell an MMO account.

I know it sounds crazy but as much time as I have put in this drug like game I dont know if I could take 2,000 for it or not. I would have to consider it I guess.

These games take A LOT of your time. HUNDREDS of hours and that is low balling it to say the least.

Selling this game is no different then say selling a old car you have refurbished a lot of time and money you have put into it and got enjoyment out of doing it. Myself I train horses but I get to attached to them.

You might be able to get a chunk of money for an account (if you don't get scammed), but it's not in any way a lucrative job. Even if my own accounts fetched $4000 it'd be less than a dollar an hour for my time. :D
