Before my computer went all wacked, I backed up three mods onto CDs:
Natural Selection
Science and Industry
and Tour of Duty

So when my computer got better, I reinstalled Half Life and installed the 1.1.1.0 patch.
When I popped in the mod CDs, I cut the folders and tryed to paste them in my Half Life folder, but I get some error messages:

For Natural Selection I get:
Cannot move 1024_textscheme: Access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not in use

For Science and Industry I get:
Cannot move 1024_textscheme: Access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not in use

and for Tour of Duty I get:
Cannot move 1024_textscheme: Access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not in use

but before I get this error message, I get this message:
Are you sure you want to move the read-only file '1024_textscheme'
I can select Yes, Yes to all, No, or Cancel
(I usually click yes to all)

What's going on?

Hmm....my guess would be that, since you backed up the folders and not the installation files (the executeable) you're missing a file or something, possibly in the registry, I really don't know though.

it might have been that, but I think it was just the fact that I couldn't cut the files from the disk...
I just redownloaded the files and reinstalled them...took longer but fixed my problem

instead of cutting, you could have just copied... that would have probably worked and saved time... and you coulda just reformatted the disc afterwards (if the stuff wouldnt delete off hte disc)

Yes, you must to save on cd-r or cd-rw the downloaded files not the installed files in the folder from your hd ! Cos registers from windows was used and impossible to run the deposited files from the backuped files in the folder on the hd...
Egidio.
